Asturias Cider Route
FacebookTwitterGoogle PlusLinkedin
When the gastronomic wealth of Asturias comes to mind, its celebrated cider is one of the most characteristic products of the region, along with cabrales cheese (a variety of Blue cheese) or fabada (white bean stew). Since 2002 the Asturias Cider is protected Designation of Origin, further strengthening the importance of the cuisine of the region and by extension, of Spain.

To learn more about the history and development of this drink, we propose the Gastronomic Route of the Comarca de la Sidra. A beautiful tour that includes the municipalities of Villaviciosa, Colunga, Nava, Bimenes, Cabranes and Sariego.

Guests will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture, tradition and gastronomy of each of these councils. You will also enjoy the nature of the region, in awe of the beautiful landscapes that will accompany you throughout the trip.

The Apple and Cider route are part of this journey. The traveler will discover, through a guided tour of the apple orchards, the harvesting of apples and the techniques used in this process.

In addition to apple orchards located in Bimenes, Cabranes, Colunga or Sariego, you will visit different wineries in the region where you can learn first-hand the cider production chain, the techniques and tools used, etc.

Many of the wineries included in the route are specialized in the production of natural cider, among them: the winery Sidra Viuda de Corsino, Sidra Cortina, Sidra Pomar or Sidra El Gobernador.

Another one of the mandatory stops of this route is the Museum of the Cider in Nava, where in addition the tourist will be able to sample typical products of the region (sausages, tortillas, empanadas, cheeses), As always accompanied with a typical Asturias cider.

For those interested in this fascinating route we recommend that you visit the official website of the Comarca de la Sidra with information about the wineries and plantations included in the route, as well as the characteristics of each.
