Recipe for bao bread dough, gua bao

Each time we can find in more local these delicious sandwiches with a different and smooth texture. We tell you how to make the dough at home with this amazing recipe.


- 150 gr of wheat flour

- 2 grams of yeast (best fresh yeast bakery)

- 1 teaspoon of white sugar

- 50 ml of whole milk

- 1 teaspoon of olive oil

- 25 ml of water

- a pinch of salt


Knead slowly all the ingredients to get a smooth and homogeneous mass. Let stand in a bowl covered with a cloth for one hour.

We divide the mass into the size of golf balls, then crush the balls on baking paper to get the oval form. Cover again and let rest another hour.

To cook this bread, it is best to use a steamer. It is only necessary for10 minutes.

Once ready we can fill our bao bread with whatever we want. Any stew or meat goes perfectly.
