What is Kombucha?

In the past few years, many health reports have focused on “super-foods’ and the many healing properties of one in particular - Kombucha. It is rumored that Queen Letizia of Spain has incorporated this popular drink into the daily regimen in the Royal House. That is why we are going to discuss the many benefits of Kombucha.

Kombucha is a drink that comes from China, specifically from Manchuria, in the extreme east of the country, where it is known as "tea fungus" or even "fungus of immortality". It’s a tea produced by fermenting a colony of microorganisms and fungi similar to yeast. When these micro-organisms ferment, they become a gelatinous drink.

It did not reach Europe until the twentieth century, and in the nineties, it became popular, although its properties were not yet proven. Its flavor is a distinct mixture between acid and sweet, with a hint of theine, which is a natural stimulant similar to coffee.

Among the countless benefits attributed to this thousand-year-old drink is its ability to improve the digestive system and intestinal problems with its probiotics qualities. In addition, it strengthens hair growth and helps fight free radicals.
